Asif M. Rahman, MD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist here at Spectrum Neuroscience. His clinical areas of focus include bipolar and unipolar mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorders, cluster B personality disorders and autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Rahman is also an attending psychiatrist at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he also obtained Doctor of Medicine degree in 2018. He completed his residency in general adult psychiatry at Nassau University Medical Center in 2021, where he was Chief Resident Physician for Academics and Research in his final year. Following this, Dr. Rahman completed a research track fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2023.
Dr. Rahman’s primary research interests focus on the emerging pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic roles of psychedelics including psilocybin, LSD and MDMA, as well as that of ketamine in the management of treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. He has also conducted clinical research into autism spectrum disorders, both under the mentorship of Dr. Hollander while studying at Einstein, as well as during his fellowship training at Mount Sinai. He has shared his work through scientific publications and multiple presentations.
Dr. Rahman is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Society of Biological Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. In 2018, Dr. Rahman received the Chair's Choice Award for Early Career Investigators from the Society of Biological Psychiatry. He is Fluent in English, Spanish and Bengali.
